San Sebastián, the first city certified by AENOR in entrepreneurial talent in Spain
San Sebastián has become the first city in Spain to obtain AENOR's certification as a "City for Entrepreneurial Talent", a pioneering recognition that accredits its ability to generate opportunities for innovative entrepreneurship. Promoted by Fomento de San Sebastián, this certification places the city as a benchmark in innovation and talent development.
The recognition endorses a consolidated entrepreneurial ecosystem, based on collaboration between public and private agents, as well as a strategy aimed at innovation, sustainability and the generation of economic value. The certification highlights the city's ability to offer a favourable environment for the development of business projects.
The certification process, initiated by AENOR in 2025, has included the definition of specific criteria and the audit of the city's management model in terms of entrepreneurship. The recognition is valid for three years and includes annual audits to ensure continuous improvement.
With more than 40 agents involved and more than 100 active programmes, San Sebastian reinforces its international positioning as a node for innovative entrepreneurship. This recognition consolidates its city strategy to attract talent, promote projects and generate new economic and employment opportunities.
